Miss Kitty Angel Hair, a.k.a. Miss Kitty, Kitty, or Missy, passed away
at around 3:30 in the afternoon on Wednesday, August 7, 2002 at the Woburn Animal Hospital in Woburn, Massachusetts. She was lovingly euthanized so she would have to suffer no longer the serious pain from her heart failure. The heart problems which claimed her young life, at only five years of age, began only a few days before her death, on Sunday, August 4. Originally diagnosed by a Cape Cod animal hospital veterinarian (the family was on vacation at the time) as a virus, she was given medication and sent home after negative x-rays and an IV to replenish what she had lost due to her not eating or drinking. She grew worse over the next couple days, wouldn't eat, hardly took the water placed in her mouth with an eyedropper, and hardly moved.
On Wednesday morning she had trouble breathing and was rushed to the animal hospital where she was given tests and doted on by a caring veterinarian staff. They could not find a pulse and there was fluid in her lungs. The choice to put her to sleep was made when she grew even worse and her lips turned blue.
Kitty leaves behind her "mommy", Jennifer, who resides in Florida, and Jennifer's parents, brother, and grandparents who lived with Kitty (although Jennifer's brother recently moved to a nearby city) as well as many beloved extended family members who lived nearby. Kitty was a very well-loved cat, as she was seriously the sweetest thing anybody had ever met. The irony is she had a figuratively big heart and yet she died from literal heart failure.
Kitty was adopted by Jennifer from the Salem Animal Shelter in June of 1997. She was a long-haired domestic feline with a very sweet nature. She was white and golden-yellow - with darker golden-brown stripes in the golden-yellow color - with gorgeous green eyes.
She was a very pampered cat and, in her latter years, spent much time laying around, looking out every window, begging for food, playing with toy mice, and just being her cute self. (As a kitten, she was extremely playful and would go manic around nine o'clock every night, when her eyes would grow dark and she'd run fast around the house in the playful spirit of a young one.)
Besides cat food, Kitty loved tuna and shrimp. Eating was a hobby! She also loved to sun herself with the sunlight that landed on the floor from skylights and windows. Sprawled out on her back in the sun was something she adored. She was a very special cat in so many ways ... and she even caught and killed a real mouse in the house once! (Thank goodness!!!)
Miss Kitty Angel Hair, we thank God for the five years He gave us with you! You will always be remembered in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved you.
